Objects on a report may be used as dynamic filters. Objects may also be set to either respect or not respect dynamic filters.

Although it is possible to use the drill-down method of filtering the report, it is also possible to add specific filter objects. We will add a simple object to filter by department. Remember that the department pie chart will not be affected by this filter.

1.Add a Filter Selector object onto the page and position it to the left of the Bar Chart.
2.In properties set Type to 'List'.
3.Re-size and position accordingly.
4.In Field select 'Department'.
5.In Filter select the 'Override Previous' check box.
6. Add suitable text.

7.Add a Clear Filter button to the page and position it above the department filter. A re-click in a drill-down object will often clear a filter; however it is more user-friendly to add a clear filter button on each page.
8. Preview your report to see how it all works together with the different type of filters.

Note: You can use an asterisk (*) to perform a wildcard search. Searching is not case sensitive. You should note that if you do not use a wildcard at all, PerfectForms™ will automatically append one when searching.

* Looks for any number of characters from that point onwards (Do*) or before that point ( *Doe)
