Once the form is in use, the various instances of the form can be seen on the user dashboards. For the purpose of differentiating between form instances, it is often helpful to set the form up to generate a form instance name using data from that instance. This ensures that users are not presented with a list of instances which cannot be easily identified.
The instance name is set in Form Properties and can be fixed text, the value of a single field, value of a special form property or a combination using the . The most likely options will be the value of a single field or a combination.

| 1. | Click on the background of the layout and Form Properties will be displayed in the . |
| 2. | In the Instance Name section, select Formula and click the Compose button. |

| 3. | Choose the Field radio button and click the Select button. |
| 4. | Browse to the Details page and select Applicant. |

| 7. | Type in ‘: ‘ (Colon followed by a space). |
| 8. | Click the Add Line button again. |
| 9. | Choose the Field radio button and click the Select button. |
| 10. | Browse to the Details page and select Department – Caption. |
Note: Department is a drop-down object. Drop-down and list objects have two elements; the caption is the text seen in the form and the value is set in object properties.
