A Filter Input object allows the user viewing the report to search for data. When two Filter Inputs are used in combination, your users can enter a data range by which to filter.

|
| 1. | With a report loaded in the Report Designer Layout view, drag and drop a Filter Input object onto the Layout . |
| 2. | On the Filter Selector , enter a Name for the selector. |
| 3. | Choose the Type of selector to be used to drive the filter (i.e. Text, Number, Day, etc.) |
| 4. | Select the logical operator for the input: Equal, Wildcard, Less, Less or Equal, Greater, Greater or Equal, Not Equal, Range (provides a 'from' and 'to' input). |
| 5. | Select the State of the selector: Normal or Hidden. |
| 6. | Choose the Datasource (i.e. form providing the data). |
| 7. | Select the field on which to drill down. |
| 8. | Choose other filter preferences, if needed. |
| • | Override Previous - By default, each object that you click on for a drill down remains in effect when subsequent objects are selected. In other words, the drill downs you select are cumulative. However, you may want a drill down selection to clear all other existing drill down filters before performing its own drill down. In this case, you would check the Override Previous box. |
