The mobile approval form allows the form designer to design an alternative view of a form, for the purpose of making it suitable for rendering and interacting with on a mobile device. It is a scaled-down version of the original form, rendered in pure HTML without the need of an Adobe Flash plug-in.
It is important that if you intend to make a mobile approval version of your form available to your form users, that you keep this type of use in mind when designing the originating form. Various design considerations are outlined in the sections below.
Layout
Mobile approval forms do not render with absolute positioning nor do they render styles such as colors and fonts. The objects are rendered top to bottom using a plain style. Layout order on the mobile approval form is based on entries and selections made on the Add/Edit Mobile Approval dialog.
Defining and Selecting the Objects
Only two form objects from the originating form can be included in the mobile form: a radio button group that will capture the approval response (always required) and a text input or multiline text input object for entry of comments (optional). You should ensure that the originating form is designed in such a way that at the specific workflow stage where the mobile approval form is presented, all necessary information can be gathered by these two objects. This way, no matter how the form is accessed (the mobile approval version through a mobile device or the full form on the desktop), all necessary information is available.
It is recommended that in the originating form, you name the radio button group something that will be easy to find when selecting that group on the Add/Edit Mobile Approval dialog. It may also be helpful to include a text input or multiline text input on the form titled 'Comments' or something similar. This input can then be selected on the mobile approval form to enable your approvers to add comments.
It should be noted that the tab order assigned to the radio buttons in your selected radio button group determines the order in which these radio buttons appear on the Add/Edit Mobile Approval dialog.
