Creating a New Library Form

Previous  Home topic  Next  Print this topic Send Feedback

The forms library provides forms for your users to use as templates when creating forms. The user can preview the form design and import it into their own account and then edit the design as needed. Some forms do require some technical set-up in order to function properly. Those requirements should be explained in the form descriptions and page-level descriptions if needed.

Note: PerfectForms™ offers a library of over 100 sample forms that can easily be customized or extended to meet your needs. These sample library forms can be found in a .ZIP file, available for download. For more information and to download the .ZIP file, see the Importing an Existing Library Form topic.

To create a new library form:

1.In the PerfectForms™ application, go to the form you want to use as a library form and click Migrate. Choose to export the form design and save it to your local drive. For more detailed instructions, see Migrating a Form and Exporting Form Data.

Note: If the form was created prior to version 1.16, you will need to open the form in the Form Designer and save it prior to exporting it. This ensures the design is updated with the latest code required for the library form import process.

2.Log into the Administration Console and navigate to the Documents page.
3.Select Library and then Forms in the tree.
4.Click New.
5.Enter a Name in the form details area.
6.Enter a description of the form in the Description field. This text will be shown to your users in the General area of the library form details within PerfectForms™. You may also include any set up requirements (such as connections or roles instructions) in this area.

Note: You may choose to manually add pages to your form by clicking Add, however, the pages will automatically be added when you import the form design.

7.Click Apply.
8.Now import the form design. Click Import Form Design.
9.On the dialog, click Browse and locate the .pf file on your local drive.
10.Click Next. An import success or fail message is displayed.
11.Click Done.
12.After the import of the form design, the pages of the form are imported and shown by name in the Pages list. You may reorder the pages and rename them. Those changes affect only the details of the library form shown on the PerfectForms™ Dashboard and within the Administration Console, and those new pages will not be seen in the Form Designer or by form users.
13.Enter page-level description text in the Description field for each page if needed. This text will be shown to users in the Preview area of the library form details in the PerfectForms™ application.
14.Click Upload to add a preview image of the form page. The recommended dimensions of screenshots used for previewing is 215 pixels x 215 pixels.
