The Settings view, usually managed by Account Administrators, is available to you only if you have been granted the 'Account' permission. For additional information, see the Assigning Account Administrator Permissions topic.
Available settings are described in the reference table below.
Account Name
This name is referred to when logging in with the API Login method and should be noted exactly when used there.
Description |
This allows you to provide a description to be associated with the PerfectForms™ account.
Admin User |
The Admin User represents the owner of the PerfectForms™ account. When a new account is established in PerfectForms™, the detail provided in that initial enrollment is automatically used to create the first user in the account. This user is then designated as the "Account Administrator" or "Admin User". The Account Administrator user has special privileges. For example, this user cannot be deleted and receives account limit warning e-mails.
Each PerfectForms™ account can have only one "Admin User". For security reasons, only the current Admin User can change the field to reflect a new Admin User. Other users who have Account Administrator permissions (the "Users" and "Account" options are turned on in the Users Details area of the Settings Dashboard) and therefore have access to the Settings page, can see the name of the Admin User but cannot change it.
If you are the current Admin User and wish to change to a new Admin User, click the ellipses button to the right of the field. This displays the "Select User" dialog where you can choose from other users in the account.
Min. Password Length |
You may set a minimum password length for your users. The default is 5 characters.
Password Characters |
This field enables you to determine the type of characters your users can select for their passwords. Options include:
Block User After Failed Logins |
You may lock out users who have exceeded the number of failed log-in attempts entered here. After being blocked, the user will need to contact the administrator. The user can be unblocked from the User Settings screen by clicking the Unblock button. See Unblocking a Locked-Out User.
Force Password Change After X Days |
As an added security measure, you may require users to select a new password after a set number of days. If the days since the password created exceed the number entered here, the user will be prompted to select a new password upon their next log-in.
Note: Changes to the password requirements will only apply to passwords set going forward. The new requirements will not be enforced on previously established passwords. |
PerfectForms™ offers a Single Sign-On module that means that an organization that uses integrated Windows authentication through IIS is able to bypass the need for a user to perform an actual login (other than the very first login). See the Using Single Sign-On and Setting Up Single Sign-On for a User Account topics.
The options for public users signing up in the PerfectForms™ player are detailed in the Public User Sign-up in Player topic.
This option is used to enable API for the account and specify which IP addresses can access the API. PerfectForms™ provides a set of API functions that a developer can use to integrate third party applications with their own systems. APIs are web services and use SOAP/.Net 2.0 as the base architecture. For full details on how to set up and use the APIs, see the Setting API Account Access topic.
Enable External Portal Access |
Allows special calls to be made from SharePoint PerfectForms™ Web Parts. See Embedding the Dashboard into Any Web Page.
Use Alternative Upload Mechanism |
PerfectForms™ requires some files (images and imported PerfectForms™ .PF files) to be uploaded from the user's PC to a form or to the user's account. In some environments where certain security settings are made, the upload may fail. If this occurs, then you should select this check box. This will use a different method that is not as seamless (a pop-up window will be displayed as opposed to be being handled invisibly) but delivers the same result.
Note: This option is only available for use with On-Premise versions of PerfectForms™.
Allow Basic User to Edit Own Details |
Allows or restricts basic users from changing their personal details.
Allow Edit of User's Email Address |
Allows or restricts users from changing their e-mail address in the Personal Details section.
Use System Font |
Selecting this check box allows users to enter non-Western characters (Chinese or Greek, for example) in PerfectForms™. With this setting enabled, form names and virtually any field in PerfectForms™ can include any Unicode character that the user's system font supports. Note that this setting does not translate the text of the PerfectForms™ user interface into the system language/font of the user's computer.
Note: The use of non-Western characters within the Form Designer and Report Designer has always been partially supported. The Use System Font setting offers more comprehensive support in the Form and Report Designers as well as in areas of the PerfectForms™ Dashboard where user input is required. For Arabic and Hebraic, form developers must remember to use the right text alignment property for text objects.
Show Form Instances by Permission |
Allows the user to view all instances of a form for which they have Data permissions. This is useful for giving users access to form instances retroactively.
