Instance Name

Text or Number

Enter a static text or numeric value as the instance name. If the names of new form instances do not need to be dynamic (based on form input or other options) then the value should be placed here.

Note: Once the form is in use, the various instances of the form can be seen on user Dashboards. For the purpose of differentiating between form instances, it is often helpful to set the form up to generate a form instance name using data from that instance. This ensures that users are not presented with a list of instances which cannot be easily identified.

Advanced Section

The Advanced section contains properties that control viewing and locking of the form and more.

Viewing

State and Edit State Dialog

Select the state of the form. Choose from Normal, Read-only or Disabled.

Click the Overview ellipsis Ellipses Button button to load the Edit State stage/role matrix.  This allows you to control the state the form is loaded in depending on the workflow stage and/or form user's role.

With field state management, you can assign various levels of user access to the form. You can prevent individual roles from changing, or even viewing, specific data or areas on the form. See Limiting User Access to Form Fields for more information on how to control access to fields.

Limiting User Access to Form Fields

Explanation of State Priority

Start Page and Edit Start Page Dialog

Select the page that the form should display first.

Click the Overview ellipsis Ellipses Button button to load the  Edit Start Page stage/role matrix. This allows you to dynamically control which page a form user starts on depending on the workflow stage and/or form user's role.

Locking

Time Out

Allows you to enter a time out interval for the form.  This property sets the time that a form instance will remain open before a warning message is shown. The time out interval will be reset every time the form user saves the form. Additionally, by clicking Yes on the Time Out dialog that is presented, the user can reset the time out interval.

It is a fixed time irrespective of any activity on the form. A form user could be typing in the form and the message will still pop up at the end of the specified time period.

Once the warning message is shown, the form user still has three minutes in which to click OK to keep the instance open for another time period of the same length. If the form user clicks Close on the warning screen or if the three minute period elapses then the form instance closes without data being submitted.

The default time out is 30 minutes but this property should be set longer than the time expected to complete an instance. The maximum value is 9999 minutes (or about 6 days).

Display Name of Locking User

Turns off or on the property that allows the form user to view the name of the user currently working in the form.

Show Locking Information for a Locked Form

Localization

RTL (Right to Left)

Allows you to design forms or reports in Hebrew, Arabic or other right-to-left scripts by orienting the text of an object to read from the right side to the left. Once this property is turned on:

The property bars for the following objects will show a new RTL check box option: Small Text, Medium Text, Large Text, Small Heading, Medium Heading and Large Heading.
Newly created text objects are right-oriented by default. Any objects that were already on the form will not change to right-to-left orientation automatically. You must open their properties and manually click the RTL property for those existing objects.
