Grouping Check boxes

Previous  Home topic  Next  Print this topic Send Feedback

The check box group consists of three check boxes that can be placed on a page as a linked group. The advantage over dragging individual check boxes separately to the page is that you reduce steps since the group can be moved as a single unit and you avoid the task of aligning and formatting separate objects.

Note: As a usability guideline, you should establish check boxes in groups of ten or fewer and arrange them vertically rather than horizontally for optimal readability.

To group check boxes:

1.In Layout view, drag and drop several check boxes onto the Layout canvas. Alternatively, just insert a Check box Group object.
2.Drag the Group object from the Common Visuals section in the Toolbox onto the canvas and place it around the entire group of check boxes. Or, just select all the check boxes by clicking and dragging around the objects on the page to link as a group. The Group Properties are displayed on the Properties bar.
3.Under the Main section on the Properties bar, select the Has Header check box to add a header.
4.Enter a name in the Caption field.
5.To modify style, navigation or behavior settings, select the check box group on the canvas and edit Group Properties on the Properties bar.

Note: Multiple Check Boxes may be selected from a Check Box Group. A consequence of this is that the value and caption of the Check Box Group will be the value and caption of the all the Check Boxes selected in that group.
