Main Section

The Main section allows you to set the state for selected objects as well as add summary detail for the Set State command.

Object States

Object

Once the Add Object(s) button has been clicked and an object has been added to the list, the Object column will display the name of the object being modified.

State

Once the Add Object(s) button has been clicked and an object has been added to the list, the State column will display the selected state that an object will be set to when the Set State command runs.

As an object is added, the State column will default to a value of 'Normal'. To change the value, select the row in the table, then select an option from the 'State' field located below the 'Add Object(s)' and 'Remove Object(s)' buttons.

Add Object(s)

Click this Add Object(s) button to displays a list of form objects. Select the form object for which you want to set the state.

Remove Object(s)

Click this Remove Object(s) button to remove the selected row from the objects table.

State

Select a radio button to assign a state to the object selected in the objects table.

The State radio buttons are disabled until an object is selected in the objects table. Once an object is selected, you can choose to set its state to any of the following:

Normal
Read-Only
Disabled
Hidden

Explanation of State Priority

With field state management, you control access to individual objects on the form. You can prevent individual roles from changing, or even viewing, specific data or areas on the form. See Limiting User Access to Form Fields for more information on how to control access to fields.

Summary

Auto-Summary

Auto-summary refers to the text that will be shown on the command in the Behaviors canvas. By default, this check box is selected.

For commands that use a condition or calculation, Auto-Summary will display the formula selected in the Condition Properties. If no condition exists, nothing will be displayed.

If you wish to have other summary text display, clear the Auto-summary check box and type the custom text in the list box below. Your text will be retained if you later decide to enable Auto-summary.

[Summary Text}

This is where manual summary text can be entered when the Auto-summary option is not turned on.
