Message

Text or Number

Selection of this radio button enables you to enter a static text or numeric value to be displayed when the Show Message command runs.

If the message you want to present to the form user will not be dynamic (based on form input or other options), it is appropriate to enter the message text here.

Value of a Field

Selection of this radio button enables you to select a field from your form from which the message text can be pulled.

To select the desired field, click the Select button, then navigate to the field containing the message text. Once a selection has been made, the value will be shown in the read-only text box to the left of the Select button.

Special

Selection of this radio button lets you choose from a predefined list of form meta data that is universally available in forms to act as the message text. This includes special values such as Instance Name, Instance ID, URL, Current Date, etc.

Special Fields and Properties

Select this radio button to make the message type informational. Informational messages notify the form user of details that are useful and relevant, but never critical.

With this message type, an Information icon Informational Icon will display with the message.

Warning

Select this radio button to make the message type a warning. Warning messages notify the form user of conditions that could potentially cause issues in the future.

With this message type, a warning icon Warning Icon will display with the message.

Error

Select this radio button to make the message type an error. Error messages notify the form user of a problem that has already occurred. To be effective, an error message should explain to the user not only that a problem has occurred but also the reason why, so that he or she can take action to resolve the problem.

With this message type, an error icon Error Icon will display with the message.

Ask for Confirmation

Select this radio button to include buttons that prompt the user to make a decision and confirm the action.

With this message type, a confirmation icon Confirmation Icon will display with the message.

Options associated with selection of this radio button include:

OK or Cancel - Selection of this option will display OK and Cancel buttons on the message dialog.
Yes or No - Selection of this option will display Yes or No buttons on the message dialog.
Stop Execution if 'Cancel' - Select this check box to stop all behavior execution when the 'No' or 'Cancel' button is selected (depending on which set of buttons you chose to display).

Summary

Auto-Summary

Auto-summary refers to the text that will be shown on the command in the Behaviors canvas. By default, this check box is selected.

For commands that use a condition or calculation, Auto-Summary will display the formula selected in the Condition Properties. If no condition exists, nothing will be displayed.

If you wish to have other summary text display, clear the Auto-summary check box and type the custom text in the list box below. Your text will be retained if you later decide to enable Auto-summary.

[Summary Text}

This is where manual summary text can be entered when the Auto-summary option is not turned on.
