Main Section

The Main section contains the name of the button, label, type and more.

Name

Name

Enter a name for the object. This is the name of the object as it will show in field chooser, the Browser bar and other object lists.

 

 

Caption

Caption

Enter the label text to be shown on the button object.

 

 

Button Type

Button Type

Controls the appearance of the button. Button types include: Push Button, Rectangular Mouse Over Button and Rounded Mouse Over Button.

 

 

Confirmation

Show Success Message

 

Select this check box to show the success message when the form is submitted.

Enter the success message text that will be shown when the submission is successful.

 

 

State

State

Choose from Default, Normal, Disabled or Hidden for button objects.

 

With field state management, you control access to individual objects on the form. You can prevent individual roles from changing, or even viewing, specific data or areas on the form. See Limiting User Access to Form Fields for more information on how to control access to fields.

Ellipses Button

Click the ellipses button to display the Edit State dialog. Use this option to hide, show or disable buttons depending on the user's role and/or the workflow stage.

 

 

 

 

Advanced Section

The Advanced section contains properties that allow you to link form instances and create or call child and parent instances.

After Submission...

Close

Closes the form instance after the form user clicks the Submit button.

Loads a new, blank instance of the form after the form user clicks the Submit button.

Reloads the current form instance (known as an 'invisible submit' or save) after the form user clicks the Submit button.

Closes the browser window (and form) after the form user clicks the Submit button.

Redirect to a URL

Loads a Web page after the form user clicks the Submit button. The URL may be static or dynamic based on the options selected in the Redirect to URL section below.

Text or Number

A static text or numeric value. If the URL you want to redirect the form user to will not be dynamic (based on form input or other options) enter the address here.

 

 

Value of a Field

The value of a field option takes the value from a field elsewhere in the form. Click Select and choose the field in the dialog.

 

 

Special

Special values including form metadata are universally available in forms. Examples of special values available in this list include Form - Instance ID, User - Skype, and more.

Click Compose to provide a condition or formula as the value. Formulas can use field values, dates, button states or other special values.

Submit as Child Even if Parent is Not Submitted

Select this check box and, if the child is submitted, it will be written into the database immediately, even if the parent instance has not yet been submitted for the first time.

Style Section

The Style section contains properties that control the font appearance of the button label and more.

Caption

Font Name

 

Choose the name of the font for the button caption.

 

Fonts from the designers local machine will also be available, however if the same font is not installed on the users machine then a standard font will be used to display the data.

Choose the size and style of the font for the button caption.

 

Normal

Enter a Hex color code or click on the color box to pick a default color for the text on the button.

 

 

Over

Enter a Hex color code or click on the color box to pick a color for the text on the button to change to when a form user mouses over it.

 

 

Down

Enter a Hex color code or click on the color box to pick a color for the text on the button when the form user clicks it.

 

 

Border

Color

Enter a Hex color code or click on the color box to pick a border color for the button.

 

 

Corner Radius

Select a numeric value to represent the curvature of the button corners. The higher the number, the more curved the edges of the button will be.

Normal

The Normal option lets you set the button's default background color(s).

 

There are two color pickers available for this, enabling you to add duo-tone color gradation. The first controls the color for the top half of the button and the second controls the color for the bottom half of the button. For either color picker, you may enter a Hex color code or click on the color box to select the desired color.

 

 

Over

The Over option lets you set the color(s) that will display for the button's background when a form user mouses over the button.

Resets the appearance options to the default settings configured on the form's Theme properties.

Navigation Section

The Navigation section provides properties related to positioning of the object and tab order.

Top

Shows the number of pixels from the top of the form where the object will be located.

Left

Shows the number of pixels from the left margin of the form where the object will be located.

Shows the width of the object.

Layer

Indicates the layer number this object occupies. You can drag an object so that it fully or partially covers another object. Depending on the layer number it occupies, it may be positioned underneath another object.

Tabbing

Tab Index

Indicates the order in the tabbing sequence that this object will be arrived at when the form user is using their Tab key to navigate through the form fields.

Tab Stop

Clear this check box to exclude the object from the tab order altogether.

Tooltip

Enter tooltip text to show to a form user when they hover the mouse over the button object.

Form users accessing the form with the JAWS accessibility tool will be read the caption of the button.

Behavior Section

The Behavior section lists possible events on the object that can prompt a behavior to run.

This event occurs when the Submit button is shown. This could be when the form is loaded or refreshed.
