The most common use of a formula is a numeric calculation. Sample calculations are provided below.

Example: What is my age plus my spouse's age?
Here we are adding the value of two fields together. Both fields are fields on the form, so we choose the Field option, click Select, then locate the field from the Select a Field dialog.

Example: What is my age plus 10?
Here we are adding the literal value '10' to the value of one form field. For the Age field, choose the Field option, click Select, then locate the field from the Select a Field dialog. Next add another line and choose the Text or number option and enter 10 into the field.

Example: My age plus 10 multiplied by my Spouse's Age - 10?
We will make use of parentheses here. First, set up age + 10 as in the previous example. Next, select all three lines and click Add (). This will surround the entire expression with parentheses. Complete the expression and it should look like this:
