Performance Guidelines

The following information is provided as a general guide to performance. Actual performance is dependent on factors such as:

Processors
Memory
Storage speed
Number of users viewing dashboards and reports
Number of form transactions (loading and submitting of forms)

Hardware

The following standard hardware requirements assume a regular usage profile in a workflow environment:

A dedicated Web server with 2GB of memory and a 1.86GHz dual-core Xeon processor.
A dedicated database server with 2GB of memory and a 1.86GHz dual-core Xeon processor.
All users are on a local area network and there is no significant background network traffic.

Systems that are running a large number of surveys may have different requirements if large numbers of e-mail-based form invitations are sent out at once; resulting in heavy burst traffic. Workflow applications or forms spread the load more evenly throughout the work day.

Transaction Load Profile

The following represents a standard transaction load profile:

50% Dashboard queries (users viewing their dashboard and Needs Attention graphs)
25%  Form loads
17%  Form submissions
8%  Browsing form lists

As a result of this user activity, the system will also be generating notifications. This standard transaction load profile excludes reporting activity as this can run on a separate server if required.
