For the Notification Indicator Web Part, the image and caption both have the CSS class pfn-icon-n (where n is a number representing the attention level). The table below displays a sample image and details the CSS class and meaning associated with each attention level.
A web developer with CSS experience has a wealth of options available, including changing the image to reflect the status. In order to change the image with CSS you may need to configure a blank image as described in the Shared settings section of the Configuration topic.
