Disk Storage and RAID Levels

PerfectForms™ recommends that you configure your database server with RAID 1 + 0. This offers the best level of protection against disk loss while still maintaining peak performance. There may be better or preferred configurations depending on your needs, but RAID 1 + 0 is a good standard configuration to begin with.

If you do not want to use RAID 1 + 0, then we suggest another RAID level such as RAID 1.

As with any database, ensure that you have plenty of spare capacity. Estimate the amount of data storage that will be needed well into the future. Keep in mind additional capacity will be needed for transaction logs as well as the growth in data accumulated by forms and attachments being submitted.
