Richard A. Moran, Chairman
Richard Moran is partner at venture capital firm Venrock and a 25-year veteran of Silicon Valley. Previously, Moran served as a Partner at Accenture in the technology, entertainment, media and entertainment and has spent much of his career as a business consultant, social scientist, best selling author and evangelist for organization effectiveness.
Moran has written five best selling books and is a frequent speaker on workplace issues and has appeared on NBC, CNN, National Public Radio and been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Fortune and other publications. Moran received an A.B. in English from Rutgers College, a M.S., Personnel Administration, Indiana University, and a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior/Higher Education from Miami University (Ohio)
Sir Peter Michael, Director
Sir Peter Michael brings a wealth of information to the board from his 44 years as an entrepreneur in Europe’s Silicon Valley. Currently, Michael serves as a Director of GCap media plc, as Chairman of The Pelican Cancer Foundation and Chairman of The Greenham Common Community Trust. Michael was the founder of Micro Consultant’s Group and from this base he spun out and was the driving force behind Quantel, a highly successful digital technology company.
In the 1980’s, Michael’s private interests merged with UEI plc and he became its Chairman. In 1989, UEI merged with Carlton Communications plc and Michael was knighted for his services to industry. During that same year, Michael took over the reigns and was named Chairman of Cray Electronics plc. In 1992 Michael co-founded Classic FM, the first national commercial radio station in the UK. Classic FM has since merged with GCap Media plc and now forms part of the largest commercial radio group in the UK.
Hugh Fitzwilliam-Lay, Director
Hugh Fitzwilliam-Lay was co-founder and majority owner of Citipost Inc., a logistics company based in New York that was sold in January 2000 to the British Post Office. Citipost started in Manhattan and concentrated on the next day delivery of business mail to, from and between Central Business Districts. When it was sold, it had over 20 offices globally and over 400 employees.
Hugh is currently Managing Partner of BFL&P which is an early stage venture capital investor and has stakes in 15 companies. The partnership has an in-depth knowledge of the enterprise software market with 5 investments in this area, the other areas of knowledge being mobile technologies and supply & logistics. Hugh also has an interest in Venrex 1, a small venture capital company.
David Titus, Director
Since 1997, Windward Ventures has invested in 24 Southern California early stage companies, of which 6 are active in the portfolio. Mr. Titus is a member of the Executive Committee of CONNECT and former officer of the Western Association of Venture Capitalists.
David began his career in venture capital in 1986, when he joined Technology Funding, a bay area venture firm with $200 million under management. He was Managing Director of Corporate Finance when he left in 1991 to move to San Diego. Prior to entering the venture capital business, he was a founder and Senior Vice President of his own start-up, Silicon Valley Bank.
He is currently a director of four privately held companies in San Diego.
Tom has over 19 years of experience leading teams and growing businesses. He started his professional career as a design engineer then spent time developing skills in sales, marketing and general management.
