My preference is to use a table with an attachment object in it. That way there is one central location from which to retrieve the attached documents, multiple users can attach a document each in a new row of the table, users will know which is the most recent, and there will remain a history of revisions.

I have a form to track the approval of a proposal document through a series of committees and administrators. At each step in the process, the person whose turn it is to approve/reject the proposal can add comments, accept/reject the document, and submit an attachment of an updated document (i.e. fix errors, add corrections, etc.). I want to be able to create a single link to the most recent version of the document on a page. Is that possible?

Can we change f='bAg...' to a readable name f='survery form'?

In addition to a production PerfectForms server, we also have a development server where we create and test all of our forms, reports, and connections. In a recent project, I found that migrating the form from one environment caused many (but not all) of the connection behaviors to break, requiring me to open the form and point each connect behavior to the correct connection/action. This also required me to re-map each connection parameter to the form fields.

Is there a way to synchronize connections across multiple environments to prevent this from happening?

So far as I could tell, this is what had happened:

1: In an earlier project, a connection and actions were created on the development server and migrated to the production server.

2: A new form project required new actions on the existing connections. Those actions were created on the development system and the production system separately (they were not migrated from the development system to the production system).

3: When the new form was migrated from one environment to the other, the behaviors mapped to actions that were originally migrated in the earlier project stayed intact, and behaviors mapped to actions that were recreated on the new environment broke.

This leads me to believe that each connection and/or action object has a hidden unique identifier which is preserved when a connection is migrated. If that is the case, is there a way to ensure that those unique identifiers are identical across environments without deleting and re-migrating connections?

Actually what I'm talking about is using your connections feature. If you look at the 'connections' tab on your dashboard, you will see that you are able to create connections to forms from other forms in order to call data between them. You can also create Parent/Child form relationships to open/close forms as necessary. Afterward you can set restrictions according to roles and stages.

Form Connection URL: http://perfectforms.com/Documentation/manual/html/d_formsconnections.htm?zoom_highlightsub=form%2Bconnection

Parent/Child URL: http://perfectforms.com/Documentation/manual/html/parent_child_forms.htm?zoom_highlightsub=parent

Using roles and stages URL: http://perfectforms.com/Documentation/manual/html/fa_all_stages__all_roles.htm?zoom_highlightsub=roles%2Band%2Bstages

I do realize that only Basic and Full users can access the dashboard. My example is for a Basic User. If I use the buttons on Form One (The "Main Menu" form) to show page, I am limited to only pages within Form One. Form Two is not a page within Form One but a new form altogether. I am trying to send the Basic User to Form Two from Form One while preventing them from accessing Form Two directly from the "view forms" dashboard.

When you say "The use of form connections will give you the ability to open forms within other forms." are you referring to the "Show Form" behavior within the "Integration Command" section? If so this is what I am doing to navigate from Form One to Form Two. It's just that by restricting the ability to view a form it is also blocking the user from opening the form from another form.

Well it actually all depends. You can do exactly what you are looking to do but realize that only full and basic users have access to a dashboard. You can use buttons on your form to 'show page'(select any page). You can make each page coordinate with your stages selecting which role can view certain pages throughout the whole work flow. There are many different options you can use. The use of form connections will give you the ability to open forms within other forms. Here you can restrict certain roles during certain stages as well. It all depends on how complicated you want to get with it. If you would like I can put you in contact with one of our forms developers who, for a nominal fee, will do this for you.

Form One = Buyer Main Menu
Form Two = Store Change Form
Form Three = Hierarchy Change Form

Form one contains two buttons: one that opens (launches) Form Two and another one that launches Form Three.

We would like to have the user only see Form One in their list of forms that can be viewed (in the forms dashboard "view forms' list). We would like to prevent them from opening Form Two or Form Three directly.

Once they open form one and select the button that opens Form Two (or Three) they need to be able to then "see" Form Two(or Three).

You may hide almost anything from any specific role. Use the 'hidden' option in form design. You can create a role of "requester" or something on that line. Then you can hide any page you want from specific role. You can also throw in an action by allowing the requester to view different pages during different stages of the form. You may view more details and instructions here:
Consider a multline text inpuut field and how you can use the 'set field' script to write the value of another field into this field, and if you look at the Special Util -New Line you can see there how you can set up a history field of what was entered in a 'question' field and then 'answer' field on the next line. and then also including the Special Util - Current Date and Special Util-Current Time in conjunction with the functions available for date/time (ie you can show the current date as DAY or MONTH.. or both)

As typcially seen in help desk solution, the correspondences around the ticket are entered and viewed within the ticket for historical tracking. Can this type of interaction be created in perfectforms. For example, i create a request, then the tech asks a question, i answer, tech asks another q, i answer...etc. All of the q - a would be viewed in the form for this ticket along with who and the time of the entry.

if you develop that ability into your new version of the form, yes. (for closed instances shouldn't be hard as when you enter and then submit the form will stay in that closed stage, but do review how any currently 'open' forms may progress to the next stage as you submit them where you may need to review the workflow routing path so the form does not go to the next stage)

Thanks Ian - I agree, the scenario is somewhat paradoxical - anonymous & identification

As alluded to in my subsequent thoughts on a wider feature request - http://www.perfectforms.com/forums/topic/feature-request-survey-campaign-administration, the solution lies beyond the atomic level building blocks that already exist to process this sort of scenario.

I'd perhaps build onto this by including a ID generator to act as the identifier parameter. This would form part of a Campaign Management module I'm suggesting.

Actually, I'm wondering now if it's possible to build a PF application to be this Campaign Module?
