If you need all of it in one text input field, I would create individual text inputs for Street, City, State/territory, and zip. Then Use a formula in a Set Field to concatenate them all into one field.

Hi,

I have 2 fields; one is a multi-line field and the other is a text field. I need to be able to copy the data from the multi-line field to the text field and remove any newlines or carriage returns.

The multi-line field will typically contain an address; such as:

ABC Company P/L
Lvl 12, 100 City Road
Sydney NSW 2000

And I need this to copy to the text field as:

ABC Company P/L Lvl 12, 100 City Road Sydney NSW 2000

I have tried using replace but it doesn't recognise regexp "\n".

Do you have any suggestions?

I am a bit confused by "A spot for defining the result". The field to hold a table column total is usually best placed under the subject table, but it doesn't have to be. The sum of a table column can be set into any field.
The source of the calculation does not matter. If the total field only allows 2 decimal points the value in the total field will only have 2 decimals.

The formula function called Index Of:

Searches for an occurrence of the text string (search text) within another string (text) and returns the starting position of any matching occurrence. The first character in the text is position 0. A return position of -1 indicates that search text was not found.

Use Index Of in a simple branch behavior object.

I have a group of items on a form that I want to be either hidden or disabled based on the time of year that the form instance is filled out. If an instance of the form falls between June 1 and July 15, I want the items to be shown and mandatory; if the instance of the form falls any other time of the year, I want it to be hidden and not mandatory.

Any help on figuring out how I can make this happen would be greatly appreciated!

Just got to reading through all the functions and found the search function. That looks like it works similarly to regular expression. It doesn't look like it has full regex support though. I'm looking for something that I could take a pattern like ones listed here - http://regexlib.com/DisplayPatterns.aspx - check if some text matches the pattern.

I mean to where you could put a regular expression in that field and create any kind of variable format. And yeah i think for most things the masked input would suffice but if the format property supported regular expression that would be awesome. I myself would find tons of uses for that.

In the current product, unfortunately, there is no way to say a-z, symbols and NO NUMBERS. I will raise this to see if it can be included in the product.

Hi Laura, when you choose the custom format, the blank field will allow you to type in the area. In this area, whatever you type becomes what the text that the text input field has to match.

ie, if in the blank field under the 'custom' format, you type the word "Hello". When you preview your form, if the word "Hello" is not in the text input box, the field will have a red outline, and when the mouse hovers over the field, it will display a message which states that the field is invalid.

If you have a 'name' field on your form where the first and last name are separated by a space, or any separator, and you want to have the first and last name stripped out, here is how to do it.
First make sure you have the objects to collect the first and last name, as well as a hidden object to store the index.
Choose a behavior to script on, then first drag a 'set field' object to set the index. Use the 'Index of' function to search for the separator in the name field.
Next, drag another 'set field' for the First name and use the 'sub-text 1' function. In the function, set the start index to 0 and the end index to the field you created for the 'index'.
Next, drag another 'set field' for the Last name. You will use the 'sub-text 1' function. In the function set the start index to the field you created for the 'index' and the end index to 99.
Last, drag another 'set field' to remove the leading space from the last name. You will use the 'Left Trim' function to do this. Make sure you write this value back into the 'Last name' object.

Ian,

Thanks for confirming that I had done the right thing. As I am only new to this application, I was worried that I was not correctly understanding the functions and the code to insert in each row. I am used to more traditional and less GUI design and development environments.
