Are there any recommendations out there regarding using the Connection Agent with Forefront Threat Management Gateway? We really want a reverse proxy in front of the connection agent since the connections it makes are so sensitive. What ports need to be open on the front end? Is 80 or 443 sufficient?

I was wondering if there was a way to copy a database connection.

I have created a clone of an existing database (same server, new database name, same table structure, stored procedures, etc) and I have made a copy of my form. I have also created a new database entry in the config.xml file pointing to the new database. I am faced with the prospect of creating a new connection and manually replicating the actions to connect the form copy to the database copy, unless there is a way to copy the existing connection.

Could I export the connection and then re-import it with a new name, and update the datasource/database to point to the new database? Or would that cause conflicts in the system?

I do realize that, no matter what, I will have to go into the form an update the connection behaviors, but that shouldn't be too difficult.

I have a connection to a SQL Server database with a basic SELECT action. One of the columns being selected is a VARCHAR(MAX) data type, but the connection returns "net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Clobimpl" followed by an error code.

Is there an issue in selecting VARCHAR(MAX) columns? I also have a stored procedure that selects the same column (returned in a result set) and it works fine.

I have created a search page allowing the user to enter an order id and press a search button. I have setup a behavior behind the search button that uses a connection with our SQL Server database. I pass the primary key as the input parameter that the user entered and return all the values from the table back to perfect forms and assign them to the screen. The first time I perform the search the connection and everything works perfectly. When I try to search again, I get the please wait screen and it continues this until I close the session. This was in design mode and me using the preview function. I published the page and tried from the link provided. I had a little more luck being able to search 3 or 4 times but eventually would get stuck again and then I would get a time out box. After hitting the ok button on the time out box my results would then return. Any ideas?

I have an issue with a form that updates a database. I have found that, when sending text with certain characters to the database, the update behavior fails and the error "An error has occurred. Invalid request parameters" is displayed.

Characters that can cause this problem include quotation marks that are not straight (such as MS Word's Smart Quotes), the ellipsis character, Em dashes, etc.

I believe this is a PerfectForms issue, as the Database is able to handle the characters. In fact, PerfectForms is able to retrieve the characters from the database and display them without any problems; the error only occurs when trying to update the database. Are there any ideas as to why this might be? Is there any documentation regarding what characters the Connection Agent can and cannot handle?

I am attempting to establish a Web Service connection with a SAAS provider. The provider supports SOAP web services, however their WSDL files are behind their authentication.

As a result, unless you are logged in, you cannot connect to the service. They recommend downloading the WSDL file to implement in the application consuming the service, however I don't see how that would be possible with PerfectForms.

Is there a way to reference a local WSDL file in a Web Service Connection? If not, is there a way to embed authentication parameters into a Web Service Connection? So far as I can tell they do not have a CROSSDOMAIN.XML file in their root directory, so it needs to be a proxy connection.

If your changes to the configuration file are not saving the problems probably comes from the fact that you are running the Connection Agent Configurator without the administrator permissions. When you try to save, an error message will appear. when you run the CA Configurator right click on the icon and choose run as administrator, then you will be able to save.

I know that the "Synchronize" process is one-way such that user information flows from the Active Directory Service to Perfect Forms, and not the other way around. With that said, is the synchronization from AD to Perfect Forms 'live'? Meaning, if user data changes in AD, will that information be automatically updated/reflected in the Perfect Forms user account? Or would we have to re-synchronize the users from AD to update user information from AD to Perfect Forms?

I have a requirement to access EVERY form instance of the database and update one of the data items based on the value of another data item (in the same form instance).

We have PerfectForms on-premise with PerfectForms Agent connecting to a SQL Server database. Our current configuration uses SQL Server based accounts for database access, but we want to change to Active Directory accounts for management purposes.

We have created an AD account specifically for this purpose, granted it permissions on the server and in the database, and updated config.xml; but for some reason, PerfectForms Agent will not connect using this account. I repeatedly get the error, "Connection failed:Agent system error Login failed for user '<username>'."

When I check the PerfectForms Agent Logs I see the error, "ERROR: Exception in GetColumnNames service: Login failed for user '<username>'"

When I check the SQL Server logs, I see "Login failed for user '<username>'." and "Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 5."

In the config.xml file, I have tried just the username, and combination of "<domain>\<username>". (Note: when using "<domain>\<username>" the SQL Server logs show Error State: 6, instead of 5).

I have tryed and tryed but I can not figure out were my mistake is being made.

Thanks for any help.

When I try to populate a field from a connect behavior or Set Field from Other Instance behavior, the number of characters it shows seems to be limited.
There is also a double-byte character problem when running a Set Field from Other Instance behavior.

Are these limitations of the system or am I doing something wrong? What is the character limit for connect or field-set behaviors?

Inserting or updating data into a database table with a field of type "datetime", where no data is updated from the form expectation is that NULL should be stored in the database table.

However when the database is queried later, with a SELECT action it returns, but 1900-01-01 00:00:00.000

This is 'expected' behaviour of SQL The dynamic query will insert default value for date and this can only be handled with a stored procedure where you check for null or empty string and set it with their own value or NULL. This limitation is not because of Perfectforms but because of how MS-Sql works.

See below the example for the sql stored procedure example:

ALTER PROCEDURE InsertDateTimeNullTest
-- Add the parameters for the stored procedure here
@FirstName varchar(50),
@LastName varchar(50),
@DOB datetime = null
AS
BEGIN

IF @DOB = '' OR @DOB IS NULL
BEGIN
SET @DOB = NULL
END
-- Insert statements for procedure here
INSERT INTO [DateTimeNullInsertTest] (
[FirstName],
[LastName],
[DOB])
VALUES (
@FirstName,
@LastName,
@DOB)
END

Details shown are:
Connection failed:
Agent communication error
faultCode:Channel.Security.Error faultString:'Security error
accessing url' faultDetail:''Destination: DefaultHTTP'

Check that you are calling the correct URL and if so, The error message (faultCode:Channel.Security.Error faultString:'Security error
accessing url' faultDetail:''Destination: DefaultHTTP') can occur because your Tomcat server might not contain that crossdomain.xml or the file has been copied in the correct location without restarting Tomcat server.
Another possibility is that you have a firewall that blocks crossdomain.xml from loading.
