Building a report with date filtering

I was wondering how I can build a report with a filter based on a time period: I want to know how many sickness forms were registered between date A and date B. The numbers displayed in the Gauge/List should change accordingly.

a number of ways you can do this. One commonly used is to add in the filter input and use the 'days ago' option against a date field that is stored on the actual form
